Courts and tribunals whose jurisdiction is established by treaty or international agreement rather than by a single nation's constitution, spanning permanent institutions, regional human-rights courts and historical war-crimes tribunals. Belongs here: Court of Justice of the European Union, European Court of Human Rights, Inter-American Court of Human Rights, International Court of Justice, International Criminal Court, International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea, Permanent Court of Arbitration, International Military Tribunal (Nuremberg) and International Military Tribunal for the Far East. Does not belong here: a national court that merely hears cases with an international dimension, such as a national supreme court applying international law domestically, which stays classified by its own national tier.
