Equal Protection and Anti-Discrimination Law

Cases holding that a group has been, or must be, treated as equal before the law: race, sex, sexual orientation and citizenship status among them. Belongs here: rulings whose central holding is about equal treatment or the wrongness of a prior unequal one, stated as the record rather than as advocacy. Does not belong here: a ruling about an individual liberty interest that does not turn on equal treatment between groups, grouped under constitutional rights and civil liberties instead.
