National statutes, as distinct from constitutions, whose subject is who holds a right or a status and on what terms; the record includes both a statute that expanded rights and one that stripped them, stated as fact rather than as advocacy. Belongs here: the United States Bill of Rights, the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Voting Rights Act of 1965, the Homestead Acts, the Social Security Act of 1935, the French Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen, and the Nuremberg Laws of 1935 as the record of Nazi Germany's codified racial exclusion.
