The single foundational constitutional instrument of a modern state. Belongs here: the Constitution of the United States, Australia, France, India, Iran, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Pakistan, South Africa, the Philippines and Ukraine, the German Basic Law, the historical Meiji and Weimar constitutions, and the Basic Laws of Israel as that state's uncodified constitution's component statutes. Does not belong here: a charter or instrument that limits a ruler's power without being a full national constitution, grouped under medieval and early modern constitutional charters instead.
